Gastritis is stomach lining inflammation.
Acute or chronic Gastritis is the disorder marked by inflammation of the stomach lining. It results from a number of things, including bacterial infections (Helicobacter pylori), too much alcohol, NSAID abuse, stress, or autoimmune diseases. Sometimes gastritis results from bile reflux or various medical disorders.
Typical complaints are indigestion, bloating, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and stomach pain. Some individuals may also experience a burning sensation in their stomach, especially after eating. Severe forms of gastritis might result in internal bleeding or stomach ulcers, causing dark stools or vomiting blood.
Treatment depends on the fundamental cause. If an H. pylori infection is present, the combination of antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) lowers stomach acid. Reducing irritants such as alcohol, spicy meals, and acidic beverages will help control symptoms. Eating a well-balanced diet rich in lean proteins, probiotics, and fibre improves gut health and recovery.
Reducing stress, avoiding NSAID usage, and keeping a healthy lifestyle constitute part of preventive actions. Early diagnosis and appropriate management depend on consulting a healthcare expert if symptoms continue; this helps to prevent more issues.
